Hi, my name is Donna

I am a proud Métis woman. My indigenous heritage is from the Alexis Nakota Souix Nation, Lac St Anne, Alberta/French Métis on my father’s side and English on my mother’s side.

My passion is connecting with communities while building trusting relationships.

I provide no cost indigenous and nonindigenous prevention services to the East Fraser Valley and the Canyon.

I am an independent contractor with the BC government.

I facilitate presentations and workshops that bring an awareness about the concerns related to gambling, video gaming/social media as well as health topics that help people to bring balance to their lives.

Prevention Focused Services

Seven Sacred Teachings - Workshop

The Indigenous way of life is built around the 7 Sacred Teachings or laws which are values or moral teachings worldwide.

The values are Respect, Honesty, Courage, Love, Truth, Humility, Wisdom.

Métis Jigging - Workshop

A demonstration of the Red River jig by the facilitator, a Métis elder.

There are discussions of who are the Métis, what the participants know of the Métis people, and discussion of the Metis culture.

Info Booths

Indigenous info booth at community events showing interactive games that don’t require screen for discussions on balancing our activities.

Storey Book Puppet Initiative

The story is presented in the form of an illustrated book with a facilitator’s guide to aid in the discussion with children once the storey is done.

There are puppets that are provided so that the children can engage with the story’s characters.

StoryWalk® Events

The StoryWalk® is a family-friendly, interactive program for school-aged children.

This story covers Frank’s journey into the virtual world and how he manages to stay safe while using technology.

Health Promotion

Community Initiative - Medicine Wheel Garden

The Medicine Wheel Garden was a Community Initiative.

This land-based learning was inclusive to families, schools and community organizations.

Special Project - Metis violin lessons

Providing Métis violin lessons to Métis youth and cultural awareness.
